Privacy policy

What Hiring Signal uses to help you find roles, what stays in your workspace, and the choices you have.

What this covers

This policy describes the Hiring Signal website, public hiring board, account, email alerts and personal workspace. You can browse the board without an account. Account features need information to identify you and keep your work available when you return.

For privacy questions or requests about information shown on the board, contact [email protected].

Information we use

We use information you provide, information from public hiring posts, and technical information created when the service runs.

  • Account information: your email address, account identifier and authentication records. If you choose Google sign in, Google provides the identity information used to create and verify your account.
  • Workspace information: your student, junior or experienced career mode, the profile details and proof points you add, saved searches, hiring posts you save, pipeline stages, notes, next actions and activity history. Proof points can describe your projects and coursework.
  • CV information, when you use CV tools: uploaded originals, extracted and corrected text, CV facts and versions, job context, AI suggestions, PDF exports, consent choices and records of versions you used for applications.
  • Alert information: your matching preferences, whether alerts are enabled, and email delivery, bounce and complaint records.
  • Service messages: messages our operator sends to your account email address, including their subject, text and send status. The operator can find confirmed account addresses to choose recipients in a private administration area.
  • Public hiring information: post text, author name and title, company, role, location, work mode, dates and links taken from public LinkedIn posts and company careers pages. We may retain source requirements and their provenance to classify early career jobs. Job details and short supporting excerpts can be visible to anyone browsing the board.
  • Technical information: session cookies, browser preferences, and request information used to protect the service. We keep your first workspace visit, first real save and one activity date per UTC day to understand whether the product helps people get started and return. If you skip the brief step, we keep when you skipped it so we do not ask again.

How information supports the product

We use account information to authenticate you, workspace information to save your progress and rank posts against your searches, and alert preferences to send matching hiring posts by email. Delivery records help prevent repeated sends and stop messages after bounces or complaints. When an account is created, we send ourselves one email saying so, with the sign in method, the time to the minute and the total number of accounts. It names no person, email address or account.

Your profile, searches and pipeline are private account features. They are not published on the public board. Matching scores and Coach suggestions help you organise your search; they do not make hiring decisions for an employer.

Our operator may send you messages about your account or the service. We retain their subject, text and delivery status to keep a record and prevent repeated sends. These messages respect recorded bounces and complaints. Pausing a job alert stops matching job emails; it does not stop an account or service message from the operator.

Your career mode filters job discovery, recommendations and job alert emails. It follows your account across devices and can be changed in Settings. Classification uses stated job labels and available requirements, without sending them to an AI model. A job without enough evidence stays outside the student and junior feeds.

Outreach drafts use fixed templates, details from the hiring post and a proof point you have allowed for outreach. You review, copy and send the message yourself. The service records that a draft was created, but does not save the generated draft text on the server. The current draft and Coach features do not send your profile to an external AI model.

The optional CV assistant organizes your CV and proposes edits, for a job or for one line you ask it to rewrite or tighten. Before its first use, you choose whether to send CV content and relevant job text through OpenRouter to a DeepSeek model provider or directly to Anthropic's Claude. The service chooses one of these providers for each task. Each proposed rewrite, with the CV lines it relies on, may also be sent to TypeSafe to check whether your CV supports it. Fields marked as name or contact are excluded and common contact patterns are filtered, but other personal information can remain in your experience and job text. Review what you include. Uploading, manual editing and PDF export do not require this AI consent.

Services involved

Hiring Signal uses Supabase for account authentication and database storage, Resend for alert emails, service messages and our own account notices, and Railway for hosting and background delivery work. Resend receives the recipient address and message content to deliver a service message. These providers process information needed for their part of the service. Google handles authentication when you choose Google sign in.

CV files use private Supabase storage. Optional CV AI requests use either OpenRouter and a compatible DeepSeek model provider or Anthropic directly. OpenRouter requests require provider settings that disallow data collection and require zero data retention; when compatible routing is unavailable, the request fails. Direct Anthropic requests follow the retention settings and terms of our API account; these can differ from OpenRouter's routing requirements. Each proposed rewrite and the CV lines it relies on may also be sent to TypeSafe to check it against your CV. TypeSafe does not train models on this content and keeps it under its data processing agreement, which sets no fixed retention period; zero data retention does not apply to these checks. We store validated suggestions and limited usage and error metadata, without storing raw model responses or reasoning. Provider retention is distinct from information retained by Hiring Signal.

Hiring Signal loads no Google Analytics. Cloudflare, which delivers and protects this site, adds its own cookieless page measurement and a bot protection check at the network edge; our cookie policy describes both. Our account usage records contain milestone timestamps and activity dates, not search text, page addresses, notes, email addresses or arbitrary event details. Fictional sample interactions do not count as product activation.

Company logos may load from external image hosts, including Google and Wikimedia. Loading an image sends a request from your browser to its host. Following an original post or another external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.

Storage and deletion

Account information and saved work remain available while your account exists unless you remove them. The board shows recent posts; a post leaving that view does not mean every stored copy or related record has been deleted.

Service message records are included in your account data download and removed with your account. Separate model usage accounting records contain an internal operation identifier, feature, model, time, token counts and reported or estimated cost, without your account identifier, CV text, job text or model response. They help us track service spending and may remain after you delete your account.

You can download your account data or delete your account from Account. Deletion removes your account and linked alerts, deliveries, service messages, profile, proof points, searches, opportunities, notes, history, matched email events and account activity records from the application database. It also clears this account's browser preferences, activity read markers and pending save on the browser where you delete it.

The account data download includes retained CV content and a manifest for downloading originals and PDFs separately while signed in. You can delete individual CVs, retained files or all CV data. Account deletion first blocks access to CV data and removes private files, then closes the account. If cleanup is interrupted, deletion remains pending and resumes when the service is available.

Unconfirmed CV imports expire after 24 hours. AI suggestions and completed task metadata expire after 30 days. Minimal operation identifiers and request fingerprints can remain until account deletion to prevent repeated requests, without retaining their CV content. Short lived quota counters remain after CV deletion to enforce usage limits.

Daily usage records are retained for 90 days. Your first visit and first save milestones, and when you skipped the brief step if you did, remain until account deletion, including if you remove your saved opportunities. We do not retain raw email webhook bodies; minimal unmatched technical event records are retained for 30 days. A short lived record of the account notice described above is usually removed about eight days after you sign up, and always when you delete your account. Expired usage, event and abuse protection quota records are removed by scheduled maintenance.

Account deletion does not remove original LinkedIn posts, copies you downloaded, browser data on your other devices, separate provider records or backups. Provider records and backups follow the retention periods configured with each provider; deletion from the active application database does not immediately erase those copies. Contact us for the current retention details or help with a particular record.

Your choices and requests

You can edit your career mode, profile and searches, choose which proof points may appear in drafts, and pause or delete your email alert. Alert emails also include an unsubscribe option.

You can withdraw CV AI consent in My CV under Files and privacy settings. This prevents future model requests and cancels pending AI work; it cannot recall content already sent to a provider. You review every proposed CV change and decide which changes to save. The assistant does not send applications or messages for you.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, or to object to or restrict some uses. Contact [email protected] to make a request. We may need to verify your connection to the account or public post before acting. You may also contact the relevant data protection authority about a concern.

If a public post contains your information and needs correction or removal from Hiring Signal, send us the original post link and explain your request. Removing a post here does not remove it from LinkedIn.
